April showers bring May showers

So, I'm wondering how Liz's family and Duncan are doing outside in the rain this morning. It's flower planting day. It's also raining cats and dogs.

How do the wonderful people in Portland get the job done when it rains so often there? Maybe they're a tougher breed than I am. They just go out do it.

Look on the bright side: at least it's not April blizzards bring May blizzards.

(Leaving Butte in T minus 4 days!)

My joy knows no bounds

Ahhh, Portland. We are loving the rain!! Lyza has been so excited to don her raincoat and dance in the merry showers. The people of Portland love their "green" and flowers and so are willing to put up with whatever amount of rain it takes to keep their beautiful city looking just so.

It's raining in "sunny" California today too--and yesterday. But when Greg dropped me off here at the Sacto airport a little while ago, it sure was green and pretty outside.

Too bad about the flower planting in Farmington though. Hopefully there will be a break. If not, at least the soil will be soft.

Jaime: I can FEEL your joy way down here in Orem town.

Megara: The Portland/Northwest flowers and greenery are unmatched anywhere, I'd wager. So, so beautiful. That must be why I fell in love with this painting that I found on the internet just this morning. The artist is from Russia, but his studio is in Portland. (I didn't know any of this before this morning.)

Shawnie: I can't figure out how Duncan got to Farmington. I had assumed he drove his car because he said Liz was having a holiday with her friends down south. But this morning when I woke up, I saw his car outside. It's still outside. Such a mystery.

Rain is one of the only types of weather with personality. Snow is white, and that's it. Sunny days are blue sky and that's it. But when it is rainy, there is a panoply of color in the sky (every shade of blue, gray, and white). It even makes greens and browns more vivid. There is generally some breeziness of even wind, and sometimes, if you are lucky, there will be a sort of exciting stormy tension in the air.
Beyond that we are mostly made of water and when it falls from the sky and gets everything soaking wet is sort of makes me feel closer to the natural world. Not to mention that it makes mud, which has to be one of the funnest things on earth, a mixture of what makes everything around us, earth and water.

I can't imagine a better type of weather.

B-Hal, Yes! Exactly what you said.

You nailed it.

When you wrote this comment I'll bet you didn't think it would move me to tears, did you?

Well, maybe it did and maybe it didn't.

I'm not telling.

Sherry: Aren't 3-hour Sunday snoozes the best? The BEST. Just drift away and don't fight it. Ahhhh.

And I AM a crybaby lately. What gives?
